Meet the Designer - Emma Gibson

“I make handmade contemporary jewellery at my workbench in South London using a combination of traditional and experimental silversmithing techniques

The processes of heating, hammering and folding metal transform it into the natural flowing shapes and textures which are echoed throughout my work, reflecting the wild windswept Northumbrian beaches of my native north east.

Most of my work is in silver, but often includes pearls, semi-precious gem stones or coloured glass. I aim for minimal waste by using as many reclaimed and recycled materials as possible,

I prefer making one-off pieces, so that even if a design is repeated, each piece is individual.   The forms are designed to fit the body and to reflect the wearer’s personality and style, whether they are making a bold statement or being worn as a comfortable every day piece.”
